anel captures patients' perception of loneliness and social relationships. Each
level is indicated using a traffic-light metaphor with written labels, color, po
sition and emojis. For individuals, each item response level is scored on a 0-3
ordinal scale, with hardly ever = 3, occasionally = 2, sometimes = 1, and often
= 0. A summary score is calculated by adding the item scores for each item and g
iving a scale from 0 to 12. A summary score is not calculated if any item scores
are missing. For cohorts, mean scores are shown on a 0 to 100 scale. Item score
