If applicable, the patient and family will recognize the importance of
complying with a prescribed medication regimen.
EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS
1. Review the mechanism of action of the prescribed medication.
2. Discuss the side effects of prescribed medications.
3. Emphasize the importance of not self-medicating for any purpose.
4. Review OTC medications (e.g., cough syrup) that contain ETOH/drug additives
and the signs/symptoms of innocent ingestion.
