| DESCRIPTION OF ENHANCEMENTS |
1. Installing Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) on a network
The file roboex32.dll is typically installed into the
c:\windows\system directory or (for Windows NT machines)
the c:\winnt\system32 directory.
C. Share the BCMA directory on the file server. Optionally, the
directory can be set to READ ONLY via the shared directory
properties. In a Windows NT environment, NTFS file
security can be set to further secure this directory.
Additionally, a login script file can be created that will
automatically map the network drive each time a
drive.
user logs in. This helps in the event that a user accidentally
disconnects from the network drive.
2. Pointing the client PC/laptop to the file server.
A. Map each laptop or client PC to the network drive mentioned in the
previous step.
B. Create an icon that points to the file bcma.exe (on the network
drive). Via the icon's properties, set up the necessary command
line parameters to connect to your VistA system.
Using this method, no BCMA files are required on the local client's PC.
When it is time to install the next BCMA GUI patch, have all users log out
of BCMA, install the patch on the file server that is sharing the files
and the upgrade will be complete.
The above installation instructions will only work with patch PSB*1*3 or
later. Previous patches require additional files to be moved to the
shared BCMA directory.
A. To install BCMA on a network drive, install BCMA on the file server
that will perform the file sharing. BCMA is typically installed into
c:\program files\vista\bcma.
B. Perform a file search on the file server to locate the file
roboex32.dll. Copy this file to the file server's BCMA directory.
