The VIAB EFR RPC was developed exclusively for the
Embedded Fragment Registry and the data the registry obtains from the
Baltimore VAMC. This RPC is limited for use by VIA for the Embedded Fragment
Registry. No additional subscribers should be added to this ICR.
The EFR team supporting the Embedded Fragment Registry said the data from the
Research (#67.1) file is data they cannot obtain from the Corporate Data
Warehouse (CDW) and this process has been in place for 4-5 years. The support
team said the consuming application will send patient SSNs as an input
parameter to the VIAB EFR RPC. The EFR process prior to calling the VIA
service will verify the values are for human patients and not research
animals. The RPC will use the 'C' cross reference on the Identifier field to
identify the patient in the Research (#67.1) file and navigate to the Lab Data
(#63) file to obtain the results associated with the patient.
The VIAB EFR RPC replaces functionality currently available through MDWS and
the DDR LISTER RPC. VIA has created a RPC limited to EFR that will be
distributed in VIAB*1*9. The VIA project manager and EFR developer may be
contacted for additional information.
