CONSULT/REQUEST TRACKING
Effective with patch GMRC*3.0*189, when an
Inter-Facility Consult (IFC) is received at a VistA from CERNER, the patient's
demographic information is extracted from the Patient Identification (PID)
segment in the Health Level Seven (HL7) message to determine if the patient is
known in the PATIENT (#2) file. If the patient is unknown, then the MPI API
identified by this Integration Agreement (IA) will be called to create the
patient at the VistA. The IFC will then be re-sent by the Veterans Data
Integration and Federation (VDIF) at a later time allowing the IFC to be
processed/recorded successfully at the site.
