GENERAL DESCRIPTION 
The Master Patient Index VistA (MPIF) package with the
release of patch MPIF*1.0*69 included an RPC [MPIF UPDATE NAME COMP FLAG] that
provided a means for setting/retrieving the Name Components flag in VistA,
which controls how names passed in the Health Level Seven (HL7) ADT-A31 update
messages to VistA are processed.  If the flag is NULL/0 then the name parts
are filed into the PATIENT file (#2) field (#.01). If the flag is 1 then the
name parts are filed into the NAME COMPOPNENTS file (#20).
