      DESCRIPTION:
      MD*1.0*16 (Clinical Flowsheets Version 1.0)
collected information as discrete data. Some data elements, such as
vital signs, are available to the Vitals Package and Computerized Patient
Record System (CPRS). Various reports built on the other data elements
are available for CPRS in the form of TIU Notes.

There are two ways to enter data into Clinical Flowsheets: manually and
via Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging. Any instrument or external system
capable of sending HL7 messages can be considered a source of data for
Clinical Flowsheets (provided that the HL7 messages conform to Clinical
      Flowsheets requirements).

Clinical Flowsheets uses VistA Data Extraction Framework (VDEF) support,
HL7 messaging, and the CP Gateway service to notify the medical device of
the patient's admission, discharge, and transfer.

The Clinical Flowsheets patch consists of these three (3) Graphical User
Interface (GUI) components and one (1) Kernel Installation & Distribution
      System (KIDS) build:

         - CP Console
The Clinical Flowsheets patch of the Clinical Procedures (CP) package
         - CP Flowsheets
         - CP Gateway Service
         - MD1_0P16.KID

      FEATURES:
      =========
      1. FEATURE: Provide GUI to view, enter and edit patient's data.
Clinical Flowsheets provides a user-friendly, customizable, GUI with
"flow-sheets" to view, manually edit, and manually enter patient ICU
      Vitals and I&O information.

      2. FEATURE: Interface with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) devices.
Wound Documentation, etc., are examples of data types that can be
Clinical Flowsheets project and application will provide an interface for
the collection of patient data from ICU monitoring devices. The
collected and verified data will be stored automatically in the
      appropriate VistA database(s).

      3. FEATURE: Introduces the Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) system.
With VDEF support, HL7 messaging, and the CP Gateway service, CP's ADT
sub-system will notify the ICU device of the patient admission,
      discharge,
      and transfer.

      4. FEATURE: Standardized Terminology Files.
Clinical Flowsheets supports standardized terminology files with Vitals
Measurements, and I&O terms. This standardized terminology file is also
      a component of patch MD*1*16.

Clinical Procedures and DICOM Consult Request Tracking.
This allows DICOM objects created during a CP examination to be sent
to VistA Imaging and be processed automatically. It also allows them
to be used with all of the other DICOM services, like query/retrieve
      and export.

Reports in DICOM Encapsulated PDF are highly recommended.

This patch and MAG*3.0*208 work together to greatly imnprove
interoperability between Clinical Procedures and Vist Imaging
      CPRS Consult Request Tracking DICOM.

The CP studies have the same Instrument Order Number as the
