GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The VBECA5A API has been created to allow the Surgery
package to convert the existing pointer fields  used to list available Blood
Products contained in the Blood Product file (#66), with a free text field.
The transition of the Blood Bank system from the existing M based system to a
.NET/SQL based system will eliminate the ability of the Surgery package to
access the Blood Product data using the current method.  The affected files
and fields are:

INPUT DEFINITION:

X = The variable X is the input from the user.  X will be used to attempt to
match a Blood Product returned from Blood Bank that will be passed to the
Surgery package for use in REQ BLOOD KIND field in the Surgery file(#130) and
the DEFAULT BLOOD REQUEST field in the Surgery Site Parameter (#133) file.

OUTPUT DEFINITION:

The variable X will be returned as the selected Blood Product based on the
user supplied input.  If no valid input is available, X will be not be
returned.

This is the executable help for the DEFAULT BLOOD
COMPONENT field in the SURGERY SITE PARAMETERS file.
