GENERAL DESCRIPTION 
The VistA Imaging development team will provide a
function that creates a PID segment that is backwards compatible to version
2.4 of Health Level Seven (HL7). The PID segment is a fixed segment; the
Imaging development team will determine the fields to be defined for this
segment in accordance with the 'Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise
Radiology Technical Framework' specifications for order (ORM) transactions.

As an input variable XYMSG is set to the name of the
array set to the PID segment elements. As an output variable XYMSG is set to
the value of the PID segment elements (may be multiply subscripted because the
segment may exceed two hundred forty-five characters in length).
