ICR #6355 documents adding HMP PCMM TEAM POSITION to
SCMC PATIENT TEAM CHANGES protocol. ICR #6356 documents adding HMP PCMM TEAM
protocol to SCMC PATIENT TEAM POSITION CHANGES protocol. It was originally
thought the SCMC protocols would not be used by the PCMM Web application. On
9/30/16 Andy Thompson from PCMM said he can see where these protocols are used
by VistA. As part of syncing data back to VistA, PCCM Web calls the SC PAT
ASGN MAILMAN RPC to create Mailman messages regarding patient team and team
position changes. Which in turn fires the protocols referenced in the ICRs
6355 & 6356. The HMP protocols would be fired as well.
Email discussion also asked about the frequency the SC PAT ASGN MAILMAN RPC is
called. PCMM said Team synchronization with VistA is limited right now to once
every 8 hour per team. It is not real-time. For each synchronization RPC may
be invoked zero or more times - it depends on data. If there are errors,
synchronization may be run more than once before it completes. When user
actively manages team, especially if they perform batch operations on it, you
may get hundreds or even thousands of invocations (if team is large) per team
synchronization. Unfortunately PCMM does not track frequency of invocation of
this RPC, so better numbers cannot be provided.
With some exceptions for secondary data sources, eHMP aims for near realtime
(<5s) updates. If 8-hours is the maximum delay, or if we expect that delay to
decrease over time, this might be the best short-term option to continue
displaying team assignment data.
HMP logged US14732 user story to track this issue.
