The DSS Electronic Dental Record Manager (EDRM)
application is creating Dental appointments for the Cerner Millennium
integration. Millennium sends an SIU^S14 HL7 message when a Veteran checks in
to the Dental Clinic. The HL7 message allows Dental users to select a VistA
appointment that matches the Millennium Encounter. The HL7 message also
contains necessary encounter data to be returned to Millennium when filing
vital signs, notes and encounter procedures/diagnoses so that the records are
applied to the correct Millennium encounter.
The PTFU API returns the follow-up visit indicator to be filed into the
FOLLOW-UP VISIT (#28) field of the APPOINTMENT (#2.98) subfile of the PATIENT
(#2) file.
